Exactly What Do Andrus and J.Votto do to jusify their contracts?

Andrus is on an extended 118M deal. Can anyone honestly tell me what he does to justify that?

Votto was arguably the best hitter in the NL when he signed his deal. But he doesn't push of the surgically repaired knee and his power numbers are way down. And I'm not buying the line that the pitchers don't give him anything to hit.

Who else see's that?

Andrus actualy made $4.8 million this year and will make around $6.5 million next season. That's not too much for a starting shortstop, especially when you conisder what Jeter pulled down in 2013.

Andrus' strength is stealing bases and laying down sacrifice bunts, and he's very good at doing both. And his fielding is improving, as well. I'm not saying he's worth the $15 mil he's set to make in 2015 but let's see if he shows any more improvement before saying he's a waste of money.

Votto's led the NL in OBP the last four years and he's usually good for 20-30 homers and 90-100 RBI. And he plays solid defense at 1st. That may not justify the $17 million he made this year but there are many more players doing far less for far more money than Votto, so there's no reason to question what he makes.

Well hes still leading the league in OBP... and probably 1st in walks too. Hes still the best hitter in the NL to me, he has 24 HRs which is higher than his career average so.. Joey Votto is still Joey Votto. Elvis Andrus on the other hand.. is the Ranger's problem

So he had a down year coming off surgery. Still a pretty good year by any standard (.305/.435/.491).

No player is ever going to go through a long deal like that and not have a time when people think they are overpaid.

Andrus I agree. That was a bad deal.

    Absolutely nothing.
