What type of Xbox 360 should I get?

Look I heard that some Xbox get "the red light of death" which means it won't turn on for some reason. I don't want to buy something that is going to mess up on it's own. I know it's 2013 which means that the price for an Xbox 360 will go down and I might buy one for my little brother for Christmas, but I don't know which Xbox to buy.

I also heard that Xbox controllers run out of batteries and you have to paid to recharge them? Can someone clear that for me. I mean if it runs on AA batteries I already have a recharger for that.

I heard that you have to paid to play? I don't know please respond to this and try to clear it up for me please respond as soon as you can please and thank you.

The RRoD (red ring of death) is a long dead issue which only affected the early model of the 360.

No you don't have to pay to recharge them of course. If you plan to use rechargeable batteries then by all means.

Yes you do have to pay to play (online). Offline, free.

Also make note that the successor to the 360, the Xbox One is coming out this year. Same rules apply in all regards.

The RROD problem was solved years ago.

The current models of the 360 do not have this problem.

As for which one to buy, I'd strongly recommend buying the 250GB one. The extra space will be useful if you want to download addons, demos, or buy games online.

The controllers can either use a pair of AA batteries, or a special rechargeable packet. I use rechargeable AA's myself. This way I can leave a pair in the charger, while the other pair is in my controller.

You do need to buy a subscription to play online. It's $60/year but you can sometimes find pre-paid subscription cards on sale for $40 in stores. There are also online offers from Microsoft, like pre-paying for 2 years for $100.

If you don't plan on playing online, however, then you don't need the subscription. You can always add the subscription to an account at any time in case you change your mind.
