What do i need to buy a tortoise?
I know about Tortoise Tables. I want to get my first tortoise. Do I need both AV-A & AV-B Lamps? When I see tortoise tables online they don't include the lamps. Do I buy the table and lamps separate? What is the best tortoise for a pet. Share your knowledge :)

To keep a tortoise properly, you will need the following equipment:
Tortoise Table
Heat light holder
Heat Lamp, usually 100w is good, but it depends on the temperature of your room and the sepcies
thermostat (this is not essential as it is only there to stop the lamp raising the temperature too much and most people don't need them with open topped tables, but it may need to be added so keep it in mind)
Thermometer, this will tell you what the temperatures are, you need one at each end
12 % UV Light, a strip light that covers most of the table is best. Arcadia is the best quality UV on the market
UV Starter unit
Cuttlefish Bone, this is give them Calcium an also will help keep their beaks down
In my opinion, Hermanns tortoises are the best beginners, they are relatively small and are a good hardy species
Good Luck
