Are the "dry" components of MRE's good to eat after expired?
I mean like the crackers, cocoa beverage powder or peanut butter. They should last longer than the printed dates cause they do in civilian food. I have nothing to eat i'm hungry and desperate.

I would also eat every bit of an MRE. My buddy, who was in the National Guard had some that were years old, and we frequently used them on camping and fishing trips.

As long as the foil or plastic aren't torn then they should last forever almost.
The powders may cake up and you need to just massage it before you open
Any spoilage would be a result of the age rather than from the healthiness

Open them, smell them, look for any bugs that may be in them...if everything looks and smells ok you should not have a problem...they may taste stale. I wouldn't be afraid to eat the other part of the MRE's either.
