That's exactly what I did when my son picked up a virus on his nexus 7 tablet. I reset The tablet to factory settings, and after I did this the tablet has been fine

As long as you weren't stupid enough to root your phone you have nothing to worry about. WHen you root an Android phone THEN it becomes vulnerable.
