In the new version of Yahoo Mail the "save draft" option is missing, how can you get it back?

In the new version of Yahoo Mail the "save draft" option is missing.

You cannot save a draft after you modified something in it (for example adding additional text). There is no save draft button button and when you close the window you have only two options: "discard" and "keep writing"

It was a useful feature that now is gone...

Here is a "workaround". It takes some time and preparation, but it will serve as a working save draft mechanism in the interim.

Compose your draft, and e-mail it to yourself, making sure to enable the "Save to sent messages" function. Use "Draft" as the first word in the message title to make it easier to spot.

To continue work, highlight & copy the text, click "Compose", then paste the text to the composition field. Repeat the send & copy process for each draft modification, then give it the proper title and send it to the proper recipient when the message is all done.

If you are working on or keeping multiple drafts at once, you can also go to your "Folders" section, create a new folder, and name it "Drafts", and move the drafted messages from your "Sent" box over to it. They can then be copied & pasted to the compose window for further work.

An added bonus of this is that if you share your machine, it will allow you to conceal them from prying eyes or meddling fingers.

A Windows Workaround: You can highlight what you're composing every so often and then hold down the "CTRL-C" keys to copy your draft into the clipboard, which you can paste back pretty much anywhere (into a new draft or the one you're working on, notepad, wordpad etc) by pressing down on CTRL-V

BUT this is really clumsy and unnecessary - there should be a "save draft" button or else an "auto-save" option to save your work every x number of minutes which is a standard feature of the WPs I've used such as MS-Works, MS-Office, Open Office etc. Another workaround is to compose your emails in a WP and then cut-and-paste them into Yahoo when you're done.

Looks like I'm going to make my GMail my default email program until Yahoo stops trying to emulate MicroSoft by fixing things that weren't broken to begin with.

THE ANSWER IS CHROME. If anyone cares, Chrome with the free "Awesome New Tab Page" works really well. You can add pretty much whatever you want to make it totally custom. I have been adding features as I find the need and haven't been stumped yet. Doubtless there are some limitations, but nothing like the mess Yahoo has presented us with. I have largely abandoned Yahoo or was it the other way around?

That is exactly what I am looking for! Very frustrating! Please put the Save button back in. I have lost emails because I cannot hit the save button or have it automatically save on both Yahoo option. Basic is the only one to do this. I feel like technology went backwards! I am a very Frustrated Yahoo Customer. In addition, I do not see an Underline button option in choice below like there use to be. Please bring back some of these old options as well as the old stationary options. There is no creativity options now. I also find it much easier to open unwanted email on the layout of New Yahoo/Yahoo. Do not like at all. I am trying to not open up unsafe mail, but the layout keeps changing & not user friendly & easy to hit wrong option and open emails you do not want to. Please take the advertising out at the top of the email list to. I do not want to open up this stuff between delete, spam, move line & top list of emails. Thanks.

To manually save draft, after the first Auto Save takes place, just click ON the notifier, "Draft Saved at 0:00" at the bottom right corner.

    There are two simple solutions:

    1. Press CONTROL + S.

    2. Click on the x at the top right-hand corner of the message. A window should appear asking you if you wish to save a draft.

Apparently, maybe, sometimes, if you click another folder such as inbox without sending a draft message, Yahoo Mail will give you the option of saving it as a draft.

But that's an unintuitive, backhanded workaround to achieve what should be a menu option.

Who are the losers who screwed up Yahoo Mail -- the same goofballs who designed the healthcare.gov exchanges?

    Yahoo Mail = #FAIL.

Yahoo mail after so much time automatically saves an email to draft. Not sure how much time, but it is fairly quickly within a minute. I just tested it...began composing an email at 4:12 and it was saved to draft almost immediately.

By entering Control + S (or Command + S on Mac), but it doesn't always work. Sometimes the system gets stuck and won't save. Then it tells you Problem Saving Draft. Great. Just what I needed to know.
