No! Usually the police DO NOT DO THE RIGHT THIING! They do the politically correct thing! Regarding injured animals...they do not care!
Years ago, my son hit a possum. He was trying to get the injured possum into a cardboard box when a cop came along. The cop said that it was against the law to take home an injured animal. My son told the cop, "I'd rather go to jail than tell my Mom that I hit a possum and left it by the side of the road!"
The cop let Sonny bring the possum home. We nursed him back to health. He lives in a nearby tree and is a great friend to our family.
Sometimes you have to really challenge those cops! They are usually okay guys, but are not thinking outside the box!
