It depends on how far advanced it is, what type of cancer, and how the patient reacts. There is no one answer.
If it is inoperable, then is may be fairly advanced, so chemotherapy is going to be a management strategy at best. They may also want to layer in radiation.
Frankly, to get any real details, you need to know the patient's complete diagnosis. Fortunately, there is someoen who knows the patient's diagnosis, his oncologist. Ask the doctor.
