I can still read my emails, but I can't answer them. What am I doing wrong?

Of course you can. See those first two arrows pointing leftwards? They are the reply buttons.
The single arrow (the one to press to reply to the sender)
The arrow with a 'shadow' (the one to press to reply to all members who received the email.)
You can also press 'r' on your keyboard ( reply to the sender) or 'a' (reply to all members who received the email)
and one final option: the words Reply, Reply All are highlighted at the bottom of the email window.
