Should I Buy a New Router?

I am using Verizon FIOS for internet and I have the verizon router set up in my bedroom. I can get wifi almost anywhere in my house except my living room, the farthest place away from the router.

Does anyone know which router is good enough for me to get signal in my living room?

By FCC regulations, there is a limit to the maximum transmit power of all Wifi devices. So, unless there is a problem with your current router or it is not set to max transmit power, it's possible you will not benefit from a new router.

    Normal solutions to this problem:

    1. Move the router to a central location in your house.

    2. Purchase a new Wifi access point (or router set up as an access point) for the living room. You can link this AP to your router by Cat5 or through the use of power-line network adapters (no new wiring).

    3. Purchase a Wifi extender (repeater). These are easy to set up (no extra wiring), but users connected to this device will have a somewhat slower connection.
