How do you clean a betta fish bowl with gravel and artificial rocks in it?

My roommate's fish bowl is really dirty and it stinks. But, she isn't here to clean it. I took the fish out and put it in a glass of water. But, I don't know how to clean the bowl with all that stuff in it. Oh and she also has a snail in it that's supposed to keep it clean. So if anybody could tell me how to clean it so my room doesn't stink anymore that would be much appreciated :)

Here is how we cleaned our fish bowl:

We had a small container where we got a net and put the fish in it. We dumped out the artificial rocks and decorations into a bowl over the sink. We put water in the bowl, and put soap in it. Let it sit, then dump out the soapy water. Fill it up with new water, put the artificial rocks and decorations back in, then put the fish in the bowl. ( Scoop it up with the net )

just water and a fish brush, soap will harm the fish.
