Well, there are a couple of reasons. I believe the first is that when the truth finally occurs to the child, their imagination becomes slightly narrowed, or crushed and it takes a while to get it back. Imagination is a very important factor in a child's life. I know that this can happen because it's what happened to me and a few of my other friends. Another reason is a good one for people now a days...finanance ( how is that spelled). When a child has no idea their parents are the ones buying presents, it tends to get to their head that Father Christmas can buy anything and prices don't matter. That's a problem because a lot of children today aren't raised properly and throw tantrums when their parents couldn't afford what they wanted (I have friends like this). I think a third might be that it encourages kids to stay up late when they're supposed to be in bed, even if it's Christmas night. Sleep deprivation affects young children.
