I need some help about being an author?

So I met someone who really likes the horror genre an I kinda feel like impressing them. But horror genre is totally new for me, every time I try to write horror it ends up looking like some weird science fiction. I have a theme for this story, skinless, but I don't know the first thing about writing true horror as stated. Can someone just tell me what I have to know?

Spend a few years studying how to write, while reading horror stories to get the sense of what to do, and then practice and keep working on it for another couple of years. You cannot poof a book, publish it, and make money (which is when you become an author--up until then, at best, you're merely a writer) to impress someone.

It's generally not a good idea to write stories just to impress someone else - or not if you've recently met them, anyway. Write what you like to write. If this person likes your stories, well and good. If not, there are plenty of other potential readers out there.

One of the first things I learned about my writing was that it never impressed the right people. My spouse very rarely cares for my writing. Back when we were dating, she was one of the first girls to not be impressed by my writing and poetry. (when she does like something I know I've hit one out of the park)

    Sorry, this isn't about me.

Don't. Just don't try to write to impress. If you want to get someone to like you, don't be interesting, be interested. Make yourself real and make them significant.

    Can you write?

If so you can write horror. Half of what Stephen King churns out is just scifi.

Timing. Mystery. A limited space (cabin in woods, Nostromo in space). Sin.
