How do I get hold of used cds for crafts in bulk and cheap?

I need them for school, and the students don't seem to have enough. They sell blank ones online, but I think that's too expensive. I see hundreds of crafts online, but they never say where they got the cds. Any ideas? Thanks to all who answer!

    ever heard of Freecycle?

It is a group of people dedicated to keeping things out of landfills.

Become a member and post your request on there. ALL items on Freecycle are...free.

    Here is how it works.

Lets say I cleaned out the dvd case and found many movies that no longer work due to lots of scratches...to me they are trash.

BUT I saw your post on freecycle requesting them so I email you and tell you I have them..You come by and pick them up...all for nothing except the gas it took to get to my house.

It works the same way with anything you happen ot have. today I got rid of a box of spare computer parts and cords to a fella who rebuilds old computers. It cleaned out my closet and he got what he needed for nothing.

    Check it out.

Freecycle is in most larger cities and in many countries too. My friend lives in Alberta Canada and I know they have it there too. She told me.

Often buy in bulk, and have a large pantry where I can store the items. Do you save? Simple way to do the math. Make a list of prices a "normal" purchase for items that we would consider buying in bulk. Then visit one of the stores that offers "bulk" items. Get the prices for the same item in bulk. Calculate the "price per ounce/pound/unit" of each item and see what the idfference is. You may be surprised at what you can save on the items. You are right that 4 gallons of mayo may be too much for you. But there are many food staples that you can purchase in bulk, and then repackage, freeze, etc., to keep them fresh and usable. You normally stop weekly at a "bulk" store (called Gordon's) and spend around $20-30. I do the rest of my shopping elsewhere for perishables and fresh items. I find that the weekly "bulk" visit reduces my shopping bill by about $30-50 a week.

Online search. I'm curious to know the craft. *FYI* If you are thinking about sun catchers, don't do it. If you look directly at the back of a cd with the glare of the sun, you can get damaging sun spots that can take several weeks or months to disappear from your vision.

Definately craigs list, garage sales, salvation army, used goods stores.

Yard sales? Salvation Army? And maybe your students' parents: send home a letter asking for donations of old, damaged cd's for the children to use in art activities. I bet some will be donated!
