how to install digital thermostat to two wires?

hi,

i have a thermostat with spots for G, Y, RH, RC, and W. i have a brown wire and a white wire coming out of my wall. right now I have the white wire connected to W, the brown wire connected to G, and a jumper between RH and RC.

i'm under the impression that G is for the fan unit and W is for the heating unit. the heat never kicks on if i leave the fan setting at "auto," but the heat blows if i set the fan to "ON." issue is that I have to manually turn the fan off once the desired temperature is reached.

thanks.

Two wires from the furnace will only control heat on/off, you will not be able to have fan only at the t-stat with only two wires.

Connect the two wires to RH and W.
