Worried about breast?
Hi there, I went to doctor about sharp pains in breast 8 weeks ago. He found a tiny lump which he was certain was a cyst, gave me meds for pain and an appointment for 2 weeks later.... When I went back he said not to worry but lump bigger and sent me for blood tests and told me I'd get appointment through for mammogram and ultrasound. Had blood test 2 weeks ago, no word on other things. Tonight in bath I noticed 3 small, raised freckles on my areola.... Definitely new in last 2 weeks. Still get pain in breast at times. I'm worried. Going to call doc tomorrow but has anyone had similar or give advice?? Thanks.
Hi April, the doctor presumed the lump was a cyst and gave me 'Mefenamic Acid' for the burning pain it was causing me. He has referred me for a mammogram and an ultrasound, I called the clinic today and it is a 10 week waiting list, but they told me to go back to my doctor to report the freckles/moles (if you insist.) They are light brown in colour and look more like freckles than moles. I have a lot of moles so thought I knew the difference. I don't really understand your manner, no one is too young for a mammogram if there are concerns and you absolutely can have pain med for a lump on the inside, I have it right infront of me. Maybe things are different wherever you live, I don't know but don't attack people if you don't have the facts or anything good to say please. You really should perhaps find out a bit more and not state I am too young for a mammogram, I am 36 but anyone can have one no matter their age!! Have you a slight chip on your shoulder?
Oh and the blood tests are to see if I am going through early menopause which the doctor also first suspected could be linked with the suspected cysts and other things. (Didn't mention this in my first post) Never said a word about ointment either! sheesh!

Hi Cat :)
Where do you live? Here in england every breast lump is treated as suspicious and patients are put on a fast track cancer investigation. I had puckering on my breast and was referred immediately. Within a week I had a mammogram and ultrasound. It turned out to be a thrombus (a blocked vein due to injury). The relief was enormous. Im 46 and was also asked about menopause as early stages can cause changes in breast tissue.
However I dont think your doctor has been very good on dealing with you. Demand a mammogram earlier if possible and the ultrasound.it could be nothing but based on your history I dont think you should be made to wait 10 weeks. Try not to worry..I know its easier said than done but you need investigating quicker so you know what you're dealing with. Good luck hun xx

You won't get pain meds and ointment for a lump on the inside. You're obviously too young for a mammo and blood tests don't detect breast cancer. Raised freckles are actually called moles..
