Should my boyfriend be acting like this?

I called him up tonight to talk as I've never spoken to him all day and he was being miserable and moody and just groaning and saying 'I can't be bothered to talk I am to tired' also basically saying it like a baby. I of course did not keep him on the phone. He went out with his friends tonight so how come he can't even be bothered to talk to be for two minutes? Being tired isn't a good excuse to be moody and miserable an a little bit mean to your girlfriend. He has a job an works but my point is that how come he can go out etc but can't talk to me on the phone? He is mostly nice to me face to face but sometimes acts like this.
