Google searches display issue?
Google has been running perfect for years and today I have found anything I search for via the search engine displays the text one word under another, no line has more than one word for the description or slogan of the website, this is making search pages much longer than necessary, the actual webpages are displaying fine its just the web search, I have tried resetting and reinstalling internet explorer (win 8) but it still displays the same issue, firefox and chrome display fine, anyway of fixing this issue that I have overlooked?

My Google search changed when I did the Windows 8.1 upgrade from W8. Suddenly my normal Google search was all wonky, had far fewer search results and instead of an image search that has 100's of images.. only 12 images-kind of thing.. (?!) I've also heard that Chrome isn't compatible with 8.1.
If you just upgraded to 8.1, that seems to be the problem. At least it was for me. But 8.1 is no small update. To downgrade back to W8 requires an exhaustive full, back-to-factory-settings, system restore. (which is what just had to do.. it took hours).
According to this recently posted article;
"...In a follow-up article of sorts last month (Google and the 3DS Browser), users found that Google doesn’t trust designers and developers to do the right thing. It's been discovered that when a 3DS browser user looks up a website on Google’s search engine, Google’s link takes the user to a dumbed-down version of the page:
So Google is applying its own layout-free CSS template and disabling Javascript on the whole web for 3DS browsers coming through its search engine.
Guessing that Google is trying to be helpful by simplifying complex websites for users of less than stellar browsers and devices. If you’re using a 3DS browser and want to access an actual web page, not a dumbed-down subset version, you need to type the page’s URL into your 3DS and avoid Google’s search engine like the plague"....
(so maybe that's it) ^

Hello, you say that it works ok in other browsers, right?
Are you using a toolbar or the default Google website?
if you are using a toolbar , most probable scenario is that Google hasn't updated the toolbar for the newest version of I.E.
Check the default Google website....does it work normally?
Another thing to try is clearing your browser cookies or uninstalling any possible 3td party search bar , malware , tool might have been installed maliciously by another program.
Hope i've helped
