What species of Orb Weaver is this?
This beauty built a web between the crepe myrtles in my front yard. I was going to take a picture in the sunlight but I scared her I guess because she ran up her web into the tree. You cant really see it in this photo but she is bright red in the sunlight. I watched her building her web for about an hour yesterday. I waited for her to return this evening because I wanted to see her consume her web but she didnt. She went back into the old web.

Neoscona crucifera. http://bugguide.net/node/view/847576/bgimage These little guys look very similar to a few Araneus species, and they sometimes fool me, but I am pretty confident that this is Neoscona.
