Is my cockatiel sick? help?
My cockatiel is a girl and she's nearly 1 😍
She's losing some of her little baby feathers, I looked under her wings and there are some baldish patches with newly growing feathers? Her hypopenns feathers (around her beak and nose) are going too! He feathers look dull too!
What's going on? Could she have beak and feather disease? Overall she's happy, eating, preening etc. she's on an all seeded diet but I'm starting to think that maybe she's lacking in vitamins or something?
I'm going to ask my mum if I can take her to the vet today!
She's the most hand read cockatiel ever!

She's just molting, but try to get a little variety in her diet. She's not going to immediately eat pellets or veggies when you put a little in her cage, but she will eventually try them, and maybe like them.
Molting may make her crabby and uncomfortable, so be patient with her.

It sounds pretty normal- just losing a few baby feathers. But do trust ur instincts when it comes to a sick bird... Note any personality change, even if the bird is quieter then usual. They try to hide they are sick because in the wild a predator targets a sick birds. As for the birds diet, if u start giving her nutritional pellets u could add a few yrs into the birds life. The diet should b 2 thirds pellets, one seed. They may not like pellets at the start but do persist. When ur girl starts laying eggs b aware egg binding can occur and definitely take the bird to the vet then. Just remember- go to an avian vet. Normal vets have very little idea about how to treat birds. Also try not to freak out about everything because avian vets are very expensive. In checking for sickness look for personality change.

Relax, Sounds like she is just molting, losing old feather then growing new feather.
