It is unclear whether English even IS the most popular language, it depends on how you define an English speaker. Is someone who has only a basic grasp of it an English speaker? If not then English is beaten into second place by Mandarin Chinese.
As it is the top three languages are Mandarin, English and Spanish. The order depends on who you ask and how it's counted.
