Have any other past World Series games ended in a way similar to last night's game?

That was the first world series game to ever end on an obstruction call.

It was the first world series game to end on an error since Game 6 in 1986 which also happened to involve the Red Sox. Their first baseman let the ball go through his legs allowing the Mets to score the winning run.

Do you mean with a runner scoring from third on an error by the catcher over throwing third? Probably happened many times before.

No postseason game had ended on an obstruction call. Until now.

I dont think any ended that way before as that would have to occur in the 9th or later.
