The reason why I listen to hip hop over other genre's is probably because it appeals to a sense of rhythm to me, which is produced by a combination of both the beats and lyrics - so both, I guess.

A combination of both. I find that I listen to mostly mixtapes, freestyles, and old school albums. The Game, Wu-tang Clan (incuding solo stuff), D-Block (including solo stuff), Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Lil Wayne, Jeru Da Damaja, Cassidy, Ruff Ryders, Cam'ron, Eminem, Fabolous, Nas, Biggie, Canibus & Fred Da Godson.

A little of both.I love a good bass with a good beat.Sometimes I listen for lyrics if I feel a certain way such as depressed.I listen to people who have been though some of the stuff I have been though. It helps.I also use it for Inspiration for my own music I make.

Both but I love skilled lyricists, I think it's great what certain artists can do with wordplay, it's great.
