How to stretch a shrunken convertible auto top?
The top is on a 1988 Alfa Romeo Graduate Spider. It is the original cloth top. Although the latch engages to the windshield connector there is still not enough to get leverage on the latch.

Done this a few times on resto jobs. Park in the sun if over 20C, 75F. If not, in a closed garage. Roof up but not locked, have hot water run over the roof for 20 minutes. After the time elapsed, carefully latch the roof down and slide pieces of cardboard between the roof rails and canvas. Place a space heater in the car and let it dry. After the drying is done, treat the roof with a protector like scotch guard.

I guess get it wet and apply some clamps pulling it towards the correct position gradually tightening the clamps over several days. Something like stretching a shoe. As long as it doesn't rip, it will stretch. I have never done this but it sounds like it will work.
