BRACES - Advice for getting them on and rules/tips?

Hi :)

So I'm getting braces put on tomorrow (the day before Halloween - lucky me :/) and I was wondering if anybody could give me advice/info about them in general. I'm very protective of my teeth and I do my best to look after them, so I want to go about wearing braces the right way :P

1. Any advice on what to do before getting them on, when to take pain medication?

2. Pain - how long does it last on average? What is best for it?

3. What are some good things to eat while my mouth is sore?

4. Rules - What are absolute no-no's on what to eat/drink with braces? Are there any other rules I should follow to care for them?

Thank you SO so much if you take the time to answer, I appreciate it greatly!

x

i had braces last year the pain usually last about two days and the right time to take meds is when your jaw is sore .maybe something like jello or yogurt when i had my braces i ate ice cream it helped my teeth feel better by the cold feeling. do not drink sodas or tea they will stain your teeth with the brackets trust me i did that cuz i was 12 was i gonna listen to the orthodontist hahaha no! i had to get my teeth cleaned and brush your teeth EVERYDAY if you skip on day all the food you eat will get stuck in your brackets my little brother is going through this right now im 14 i had braces on for 2 years they feel weird when you get them on your teeth but when you get them off you will look so much older hope this helps!!!
