Are voters just supposed to vote Democrat or Republican no matter what these days?
As I've been following the Virginia gubernatorial election, I've seen some Democrats and especially quite a few Republicans accuse Robert Sarvis/Libertarian Party supporters of voting for one of the major party candidates. As someone that believes in reason, in having some sort of a set of ethical principles, and as someone who believes in democratic elections, I can't understand how someone could possibly come to such a conclusion and still claim to believe in and support democratic elections. It's a complete contradiction.
The only tangible force behind the theories of "spoiler" and "lesser of the two evils" that I can see is fear. Our country didn't have this problem nearly a century ago, when several third parties managed to have at least one member in Congress, and at times 10+ members between them. I don't want to believe our nation's voting population has lost its spine, or has dumbed down or something, but that's what I'm beginning to think the more I compare elections a hundred years ago to those today.

Dude... I can tell you what the problem is. People are just plain stupid and believe what they want to believe. You see... you appear to be driven by something other than your brainstem. Most people cant say that. And that's why people like you and me have trouble understanding them. They think their indignation somehow changes the facts. You and I understand how completely preposterous that is.
" but most third party candidates are inexperienced "
Yeah? And how's all that experience workin out for ya? LOL! You didn't really think that through did you?

I vote for a lot of 3rd party candidates and Independents.. They don't win, but since I live in Texas it doesn't really matter.. The Republicans win most of the time.. even if they are idiots..Gohmert, Baarton, Perry, Cruz just to name a few..

They do no need to vote for the two major parties, but most third party candidates are inexperienced and usually offer things that are unrealistic in obtaining.

the parties have become so entrenched in their hate for each other that they control the thoughts of the electorate,,it is sad that we don't have at least four viable parties,,the moderate republicans are becoming too much like dems and the left wing dems have completely taken over control of dem party so no moderate dem can dare speak out ,,,,i would love to see dems return to JFK thoughts,,yes and yes
