If nothing is comforting the baby and she's crying for hours, they need to take her to the doctor to rule out medical issues that are causing her pain.

If everything is ruled out, then baby likely has colic, and there is no cure but time.

(Eating every 2 hours is 100% normal. Crying continuously between feeds is not.)

Carlie's advice is appallingly ill informed. Please ignore it. You should never use cry it out on a child this young.

Crying continually is not normal and medical advice should be sought. However, crying frequently and needing feeding every couple of hours between short, sleeps is normal behavior for a newborn. New parents usually don't get much sleep for the first month or two.

I am going to assume that what you mean is being misunderstood by "all night" and that it's normal. Is she on formula? If it's Similac Iron Formula then I would immediately assume colic or constipation. If she's using bottles, switch the bottles to a slower drip.

I don't remember how old a baby needs to be for gripe water but I would try that too.

Source(s): Third child on the way. My kids are eight and four.

If she is literally crying for hours at a time she needs to be seen by a doctor. That isn't normal.

Cry it out. Works like a charm.
