Isn't the US flag supposed to placed more prominent and higher than the others?

The state flag was higher and more visible then the USA flag and another flag (a strange one with a white body and a blue corner with a red cross inside it)was also higher and in front of the US flag.Quite frankly, the state flag seems to resemble the Confederate flag (It is the Tennessee flag, and it's utterly stupid if supposed to be related to the Confederate flag). Anyway, isn't the US flag supposed to be higher and more visible?

Yes, the US flag is suppose to be higher and more prominent. But the US Flag Code is more "guidelines" than actual law. So there is no penalty for not following the Flag Code.

That depends who's flying it. If it's a state government building, the state flag flies above the federal.

You didn't ask, but in case you're interested, that "strange" flag represents Christianity.

  • On state government buildings, the state flag can be higher.

The "Strange flag" you describe sounds like the "Christian Flag" and special rules apply to flying that flag near the US Flag.

It's not a legal requirement, so no. Flag etiquette is not a law, just recommendations.
