Help me with the name of this movie?

This is all I remember-- movie ends with street race through small town which ends at football game, main character given remote to go through red lights from son of firefighter to give him advantage.

Update:

I looked up The Burglars and that is not correct. I think it is from the eighties and the characters are teenagers.
