I had a pulmonary embolism, my dad needed a bypass and his mom struggled with TB in the 50s. What about your experiences?

My grand father had a bypass when he was in his 60s, a vein was taken from his leg and used in his heart. He was very weak for a long time and recovery is slow because you have to be careful but he was perfectly fine for a long while after. He died at age 76 of a lung disease associated with his job.
My Dad died of a brain hemorrhage caused my excessive drinking at age 42.
