Should the Patriots get rid of Tom Brady? (read details)?
I know the Patriots are 6-2, but it's obvious they're struggling, and their struggles on offense aren't only because of the WRs dropping balls. Yes, there's dropped balls and badly run routes and timing breakdowns, but having watched Brady through half the season, it seems like he's lost some arm strength and accuracy as well. Unlike with Manning (who never had great arm strength), Brady has made his career off strong, accurate throws into tight windows. If he can't do this anymore, the drop-off may be very sudden. The Patriots have a talented young backup (Mallett has been impressive in limited action). Is it time for the Patriots to move Brady, while they can still get a 1st round pick for him, and give Mallett a chance to take over?
Edit>> It's all well and good for people to say he'll retire a Patriot. Football history of great dynasties says otherwise (Manning and Montana, two of the greatest ever, both got traded before the end). And Belichick may retire when Brady goes, but I wouldn't count on it. And even if he retires, I guarantee you, Robert Kraft will not, and he won't settle for being mediocre either. The Patriots have always replaced aging veterans, trading them off for more talent.

It's not like the NFL is loaded with tons of talent at QB. And I would not agree that Mallet has been good in limited action.
Brady is not going anywhere nor should he. The time will come that he will not longer be the QB for the Patriots but that time has not come yet. He's 36.....he's not dead. His mobility is still good and he still one of the best at the play action fake. Even though he is getting sacked and hit a ton he still finds ways to lessen those blows if you watch closely. He has a very good way of feeling a rush and moving his body at the last second in an effort to not get decapitated.
Yes his effectiveness is a concern for all of us NE fans but there are other problems with this team...it's not all Tom Brady.

Ryan Mallett has only 1 completion in his entire career, that's how talented he is.
It reminds of 2010 when the roles reversed, Brady was unanimous MVP and Manning at some point had 11 interceptions in 3 games. People started to claim how Manning was on the decline and the Colts should move on (and at the end they did due to other circumstances).

This question is totally off the map. The only reason the Colts got rid of Manning was his age mixed with a neck injury, they didn't believe he would recover fully, but look at him this year, he is blowing up the stat sheet. Brady has also been one to overcome the odds in his career. Just the fact he is in the NFL is proof of his undying motivation. Go watch the Brady 6, its on youtube. It highlights what Brady did to get into the NFL.

Tom Brady is going to retire a Patriot and be a HoF with his jersey there and this season he is offensively the main reason why they are 6-2 with mediocre Wide Receivers instead of 3-5 so far and when he and Bellichick retires the Patriots will be less than mediocre again for awhile

I wouldn't say Peyton has a weak arm. His arm is plenty strong enough. I've seen him make plenty of 50, 60, and 70 yard passes with extreme accuracy. However, over the last past several years, as you pointed out, Brady has been rather inconsistent at times. One game he'll play great. The next he nearly loses the game all by himself.
I wouldn't put all of the blame on Brady for this year though. His receiving core has been totally switched around on him and his offensive line isn't giving him as much time to get off passes as usual.
But I think there's a major difference between Brady and Peyton. Often you'll hear Patriots fans claiming that Peyton has always had better receivers as to being why he's better. That's totally untrue. When Peyton was with the Colts the Colts basically always drafted after the Patriots and had less draft picks than the Patriots. And all of their receivers were usually draft picks. They were picking up guys that the Patriots passed over. Pats fans also tend to point out how well Brady is doing with the poor quality of receivers he has this year. But Peyton had a far far worse lineup in 2009 and started off 14-0 and went to the Super Bowl that year. Not to mention he had a new head coach that wasn't on par with Bill Belichick by any means.
I think the big difference can easily be seen off of one of Brady's comments where he says that, "It isn't my job to train the rookie receivers." On the other hand, Peyton was known for his "Peyton Club". He'd take the rookies in that he knew needed help and he'd practice with them for hours after practice. He'd bring them to his home and go over film footage for how to read plays and defenses. He basically took those guys under his wing and helped turn them into great receivers.
Brady's rookies this year are both 2nd round picks. Peyton's receivers in 2009 were a 6th rounder, a 4th rounder and the rest weren't even drafted! That 6th rounder you might know now as Pierre Garcon (a $45 million player now). That 4th rounder was Austin Collie.
Should the Patriots get rid of Brady now? No way! He's still a great quarterback. The main problem with the Patriots is that they've modeled themselves after the Peyton Manning Colts teams. Whenever they have problems, the first thing the fans and team says is "Get Brady more passing weapons!".
The Colts never really invested heavily in their defense or special teams when they had Peyton. That's why he only won 1 Super Bowl for the Colts. The contraversial point owner Irsay was trying to make was that teams like the Steelers, Giants and Ravens had teams with quarterbacks that weren't as good as Peyton. And yet each of those teams won more Super Bowls than the Colts because those teams had more balance. This new Colts team with Luck has more balance. Less of the pressure rides on the quarterback. That's why they were able to beat teams like the 49ers, Seahawks and Broncos without having huge passing numbers. If the Patriots want to win Super Bowls, they need to follow the change in direction the Colts have made to a more balanced team.
To me, the window for the Patriots to win a Super Bowl is fastly closing. Their cap space is very tight. Brady is near the end of his career. I've heard Belichick has talked about retiring when Brady does. And if I was Belichick, I would too. The Patriots will likely suck for a few years after Brady retires no matter how good of a job of coaching Belichick does. The chance of the Patriots lucking into another Brady are slim to none. And those bad seasons will only tarnish Belichick's impeccable record. Belichick should retire with his image in tact as much as possible.
It would be bad to see Belichick leave the Patriots by getting fired. Belichick would be left with a shell of a team just like the Colts were left in 2011. But luckily for the Colts, the AFC South was in ruins in 2012 with almost all new coaches and quarterbacks except for the Texans. And they lucked into Andrew Luck. In the AFC East the Bills and Dolphins have both likely found their franchise quarterbacks. I'm not sure about the Jets yet, but they might have. So as the Patriots will be hitting their worst, the teams in their division will be starting to get strong. That's a bad combo.

I don't think they will, but I think they should try to trade him in a year or two and get something out of him. He's done winning SB's in NE.
