Dodgers and 49ers fan, but moreover I'm a fan of the game. Give me a well-executed entertaining game and I'll be a fan. Proponent of more West Coast love in sports.
Matt Kemp to the Red Sox?
While I thought Ethier would be the odd man out, there's been more Kemp rumors this offseason than anything else. Boston and LA have pulled off a megatrade before (which worked beautifully for both teams), and there's been rumblings recently that Boston is very interested in Kemp. Personally I think Boston is his most likely landing spot with Ellsbury gone now, but what would Kemp bring in return? I'm unfamiliar with Boston's prospects.
6 AnswersBaseball8 years agoShould the Patriots get rid of Tom Brady? (read details)?
I know the Patriots are 6-2, but it's obvious they're struggling, and their struggles on offense aren't only because of the WRs dropping balls. Yes, there's dropped balls and badly run routes and timing breakdowns, but having watched Brady through half the season, it seems like he's lost some arm strength and accuracy as well. Unlike with Manning (who never had great arm strength), Brady has made his career off strong, accurate throws into tight windows. If he can't do this anymore, the drop-off may be very sudden. The Patriots have a talented young backup (Mallett has been impressive in limited action). Is it time for the Patriots to move Brady, while they can still get a 1st round pick for him, and give Mallett a chance to take over?
7 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoCan any team stop the Chiefs from winning the Super Bowl, or is it already a foregone conclusion?
As Bill suggested in a previous question, everyone needs to do their part to let the Chiefs' fans get some sleep. They're up all night continually reposting this question, so as fellow members of the Yahoo! Answers football community lets all do their work for them so they can recuperate. Consider it a bye week.
9 AnswersFootball (American)8 years ago49ers issued the biggest beatdown of the season?
They beat the Titans so badly their owner died. How's that for a beatdown? (Just having a little fun, RIP Bud Adams, he's a man that appreciated a poorly timed joke).
2 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoDoes this put the officiating whining to rest, finally?
The NFL announced that Joe Staley did not deserve a personal foul during the Matthews late hit on Kaepernick, and the 49ers should have had 1st and goal.
"After reviewing the play, Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino determined that Joe Staley should not have been penalized," was the statement given by an NFL spokesperson.
Can we finally move on and just admit the Packers were outplayed? It was a great game, and I think the Packers will win their division and we'll see them again in the playoffs... but they lost this one fair and square.
5 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoWhich week 1 injury will have the most impact for their teams?
Week 1 is always full of injuries. Steelers lost Maurkice Pouncey for the year, Romo is banged up, Reggie Bush has a groin injury that could make him miss time, Roddy White's ankle kept him from being effective, and I'm sure there's more injuries that I'm missing. So which one do you think will affect their team the most, going forward?
1 AnswerFootball (American)8 years ago49ers/Packers game of the week?
Was a great game, Packers defense looks vastly improved. We're going to do this dance again in the playoffs. Congratulations 49ers and the Boldin/Kaepernick connection.
8 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoHow good is Kenley Jansen going to get?
Converted to a closer a little less than halfway through the season, Jansen has been the Dodgers' most consistent and clutch reliever during the last 1 1/2 seasons. Like Mariano Rivera, Jansen relies almost exclusively on a near unhittable cutter, that despite coming in at only 93 mph, generates an absurd number of swings and misses.
Now, all of that is impressive enough, but what makes his potential sky-high is the fact that Jansen has only been pitching for 4 years now. He was converted from a catcher to a pitcher in 2009 by the Dodgers and was so dominant after just a single season as a pitcher that he was promoted to the club in 2010.
3 AnswersBaseball8 years agoIs Tim Tebow the Antichrist?
We all know the antichrist will pretend to be a Christian, yet beneath it all he will undermine everything Christianity stands for, and throw the world into chaos and terror. Tim Tebow supposedly espouses the highest Christian values and moral fiber. Yet his teammate (at Florida and New England) Aaron Hernandez, may have murdered up to three people so far, while his roommate at Florida just got caught on camera espousing threats and racist remarks. Coincidence, or were they corrupted by Tebow as he begins his thousand year reign of terror and unleashes Hell on Earth?
10 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoHas Pete Carroll built the foundation of the Seahawks success on PEDs and cheating?
Bruce Irvin is now the third Seattle player in the last 2 years to be linked to PEDs. Do you think Carroll injects the players himself? Do the Seahawks have a PED facility set up inside their training camps? Are any Seahawks players actually clean? Should the Seahawks be suspended as a team for rampant PED use?
8 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoWhat was the worst draft year that you can remember for your team?
It has to be more than just 1 bad player, just an abysmal draft up and down. For my 49ers it has to be 2008, where they drafted Kentwan Balmer and Chilo Rachal in the first 2 rounds, they forfeited a fifth round pick for anti-tampering rules violations, and the best player they took the entire draft was Larry Grant (a solid backup ILB who is the only player still on the team). Josh Morgan is the only other player of any value, and he was overpaid by Washington.
9 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoWhy didn't the Patriots sign Bernard Pollard?
He's injured Ridley, Brady, Gronkowski and Welker. You know next year he's going to take out Amendola. Even if they don't play, he'll find a way to take out Amendola... maybe in line at the local Denny's he'll blindside the guy. You would think that locking up a Patriot-killer like Pollard would have been Belichick's number one priority this offseason.
4 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoIs Russell Wilson the biggest sellout in the history of American Sports?
Talk about selling out to brand names, he actually named himself after Russell Athletic and Wilson Sporting Goods. How much is he getting paid for his name? Does he have a copyright tattooed on his chest?
7 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoThoughts on the newest free agency signings?
Broncos just got DRC for 1 year and 5 million, shoring up their secondary in a big year (assuming DRC bounces back). Cassel was cut from KC, while the Colts pick up LaRon Landry for 4 years and 24 million (14 guaranteed).
Obviously Landry is the big signing there, but that's a lot of guaranteed money to a guy with an injury-prone past.
2 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoDid God just decree the 49ers will win the Super Bowl?
The first American pope is named Francisco I. Since he's the divine mouthpiece of God on Earth, I think that's a sign that the 49ers are destined for another Super Bowl trophy.
3 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoAre Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan playing scared?
Dashon Goldson just signed with the Buccaneers. Now I'm not saying that the Bucs will win it all because of him, but their WRs are now in-line for a beating. Goldson is easily the hardest hitter in the NFL and you know that he's going to be given a free leash to inflict pain in Tampa Bay, because that's what Greg Schiano likes to see. I see a lot of injured and beaten WRs in the future for the teams in the NFC South.
5 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoAre the Falcons finished now that they've released their only defensive stars?
Okay, so releasing Michael Turner made since. His skills have declined and his contract was a massive anchor. But Robinson and Abraham were two of their three talented players on defense. With both of them leaving, that leaves the Falcons defense in absolute shambles, dropping them to 32nd in the league, defensively. I have a lot of respect for Nolan as a defensive mind, but he can't do anything with the talentless schmucks that remain on defense for the Falcons.
4 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoWhat do you think about the chances on the 4-2-5 defensive package?
So Auburn is trying to answer the threat of the spread and pistol offenses by implementing a 4-2-5 scheme, which requires a CB to act as both defensive back and linebacker. Not only do you need a big, fast cornerback for that, but he needs to have huge amounts of football IQ, to do split second reads on each play. If done right, it could reshape the defensive landscape, but that's a huge burden to put on the back of a single corner.
Football (American)8 years agoWas the Super Bowl rigged?
So yes, as a 49er fan I'm angry about the way we lost, but I recalled a report that was published 3 days ago, leaked by NFL referees that were angry about who was officiating the Super Bowl. They felt that several of those referees didn't belong in the Super Bowl, and that the NFL doctored their season reports to get them in there. I didn't pay too much attention at the time, but now after the zebras gave away the game... it looks a lot more fishy.
Read it for yourself and comment if you have any.
16 AnswersFootball (American)8 years agoWhat is the next source of the newest PED?
Now that we have cheater Ray bringing Deer Antler Velvet into the public eye, companies will have to go to even further extremes for that extra boost. So where do you think they'll get the next big thing? One possibility I see is to ingest an extract from the urine of a pregnant Eskimo.
