Contraception - help me please?!?

Okay, I'm 16, sexually active and my periods are seriously weird. The gaps between them are now a little over 12 weeks and quite frankly, it scares me. Obviously, I use condoms when having sex, but I want to have another form of contraception for added protection, as my periods are so irregular. Unfortunately, I cannot go on the pill because I get migraines with aura.

Please help me! Thank you! :)

It may be really expensive or nearly free, depending on you insurance. But there's something called an IUD. It's basically an insert that your gyno. will put in next to your uterus. I have an IUD called Paragard, which is made from copper, totally non-hormonal, and lasts up to 10 years. I totally recommend it. it won't straighten out your periods because it is non-hormonal, but it is an extra form of contraceptive.

As far as your 12 week cycle goes, that's normal. Mine was like that for a LONG time. People say once a month because that's more or less what the overwhelming majority has.
