I had a reduction about a year and a half ago-best decision I ever made.

I was nervous beforehand, it was my first surgery. Coming out of anesthesia was rough, and I slept most of the rest of the day. The first time I took the bandages off was pretty scary, I have a hard time with incisions/stitches/etc so that was a big part of the problem. I was pretty sore for the first couple days but was back to moving around and working 2-3 days afterwards.

    I went from a 38 G/H to a 34 D.

Not me, but a very good Lady Friend of mine who lived with me for several years. She found a lump, and had it biopsied. Thankfully, it was benign. However, her doctor recommended a lumpectomy or a breast reduction. She elected for breast reduction and lift. She started at 34DD and when it was all done, 34B-C. 34B after the swelling went down. Before she had back aches often. Even a Playtex 18 hour longline bra with wide straps did not work to avoid the backaches. She suffered for years. I know, I saw it. After, now she can go without a bra and NO backache at all. She had thought about a reduction for years before but not seriously considered it. Had she not found a lump as she did, I think it likely she would NOT have had a reduction. Since she was going under the knife to get the lumps out, she thought to combine the procedures. Now, she tells me, had she known the relief she would get, she would have done it all much earlier in her life. The recovery time was not all that long, about 4 weeks, which I learned is typical. Initially there was some pain and swelling which rapidly healed. No pain killers after the first day, just common aspirin. She had an ointment of some kind that was applied to the scars twice daily for 3 weeks. As for the scars, they are there, but they are barely noticeable in the natural fold line under the breast, which is about the same place an under-wire sits. So, not first hand experience, but I witnessed her experience, from start to finish and her relief from back pain was obvious to me. Her posture changed. She stood up straight...
