You take a low dose of aspirin probably for your heart...(to thin blood slightly). Low dose aspirin should be taken at bedtime. During the day you can also take your favorite medicines for your headaches/aches and pains. Excedrin I believe can be made with either aspirin or tylenol (acetaminophen). I would take anything made with acetaminophen for headaches. They work best with most any other medication (unless it too contains acetaminophen) without reactions.

It contains acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine.

Since there are 7 formulations of Excedrin, and you didn't mention which one you are currently taking, check the back of the bottle for the "amount of aspirin in milligrams".

Some formulations of Excedrin (Excedrin Back and Body) have up to 250 mg of aspirin.

Taking a low dose (81mg) of aspirin seems pretty redundant in this case. Taking that is totally up to you, as you're taking an OTC pain reliever for ANOTHER symptom, in this case, neuralgia (headache).
