Have you been to Roppongi's Nanbantei in Tokyo?

More details for my novel. Some people have been very helpful about including real-life details, things you can't get from a normal website.

Have you been to Nanbantei in the evening?

*What does it look like from the outside?

*What kind of people eat there? Mostly tourists? Lot of working class? (I mean, clerks in Roppongi have to eat somewhere, right?)

*What kind of atmosphere is it inside? I'm imagining something a little dark and smoky. Do your clothes smell like yakitori when you leave?

*Are the menus all in Japanese, or English, too? Or are there any menus?

*What was your favorite dish there?

*How far is it from a subway or train station?

*Is it different from other Japanese yakitori restaurants, and if so, how?

I'm really hearing some interesting things with these questions. So, thanks, Yahoo! Answers.

Update:

I'm especially interested in hearing about the cubicles -- what color are the walls, what's on the table? Are they those tables that are set in the floor, so you are sitting on the floor, with your legs dangling down? Or are they low tables set on a straight tatami mat? Any zabutons? If so, how cushy are they, and what color? Is it noisy, or does it block out the noise pretty well? (I mean, you are going to hear the laughing business men on the other side of the cubicle having a party, but how cozy is it?)

Update 2:

LittleMo, thank you for your kind words. I'm writing it in English, and I'm having a blast! I have two other novels in my queue that need to be edited before I even think of publishing this, but I've posted my information on NaNoWriMo. I'm sorry I can't tell you anything about it here, but maybe with a little investigation, you can figure out who I am. (-: But I think you'll have more fun if you just stumble across it in a bookstore or on a book-ordering site. Right now, it's in the baby-stage and I'm very protective of it.

Cheapest, I think it's a very popular yakitori joint amongst foreigners. http://www.nanbantei.com.sg/japanese-food-japanese... I was hoping that someone might have been there! Life is full of odd co-incidences.

Nightcap, thank you for your assumptions, and I think you might become a very successful writer yourself with your imagination. As a matter of fact, Yahoo! Answers is just one of my research tools, and I'

Update 3:

Well, that's odd. I was supposed to have about 4000 characters left, and it got cut off. No matter.

    >Sorry this is of no help< but

Fascinating!! You're writing a book. Will it be in Japanese or English?

I must say that a little dream I've had in the back of my mind for some time now has been to publish a book in Japan in Japanese, but of course that would be around a decade off for me XD My skills are only decent and I'm still in the US. Also I wasn't sure how difficult or possible such a thing would be haha.

Anyways do you have any way for people to keep tabs on your book's publish date? Even if it's years off, I would love to support you and buy a copy, it seems very interesting thus far.

    Research, Research, Research.

You seam to be relying on hearsay for your Novel. Next stop Tokyo for first hand knowledge.

You may think I'm putting you down but on your journey in penning your story you'll find that constructive criticism is a useful tool rather than a degrading weapon.

    Happy researching.

    Addition; Just an after thought.

If this is your first novel the following may be of interest to you. Although not in depth it pretty much covers it.

    Story idea.

    Research story. Facts, locations etc.

    Writing story.

Edit, Edit. Edit and Edit again

    Invite “ critiques”

    Proof reading.

    Edit. Edit. Edit.

    Proof reading again.

    Submitting novel.

    Publishing novel.

    Promoting novel.

A few years ago established Publishing houses saw Self Publishing as lowly way of want to be Authors in getting their novels into print. They showed no interest.

Those days have gone. These same publishers are now scouring self published Authors blogs on the internet, counting their followers and are particularly interested in comments fed back to the authors of those who have read the novel. If they feel that the novel will make money they will contact you.

Constructive criticism is part and parcel of writing a novel. Accept it graciously. It’s usually given with the best of intentions.

Remember. There is no reason what so ever in putting thousands of £/$ up front to any publisher. You may find yourself out of pocket and a very sad, wiser person.

    Addition;

A bit too long in the tooth to become an author I'm afraid. Nowadays I get writers block just answering questions on Y/A. and thank god for the spell checker.

My Imagination ? Thought I'd given you facts.

I do wish you well and good luck with your novels.

In fact, you have to tell us what Nambantei is. It sounds like a yakitori restaurant. But if so, it's one of tens of thousands of restaurants in Tokyo. So it's difficult to find someone here who has actually been there.

    Addition:

    >Life is full of odd co-incidences.

Well, Tokyo is too huge to have "just a coincidence", though.
