Had my car smog and didn't pass?

I jus bought this car and it's tags were expired for a couple of months now. I took my car to get it smog and it didn't pass. Paying the registration Fee...how long will the extension be here in California, there charging me about 450 to fix so I need time to save up to fix the car. So let say if I go the 15 of this month when would the red tag expired???

    the red tag is only good for 1 month,, then it expired so basically they give you that time to come up with the money to fix it..
