Does anyone know how to get rid of the flashplayervideo/fvp virus?
It's driving me crazy. So far I've run 2 anti-spyware scans, a full Malwarebytes scan, and a full AVG scan. I've also done a System Restore. The popups disappear for a little while but they always come back and turn up on nearly every page I visit. the only thing I haven't tried is advice given on Ehow.com that said to go into the registry and delete a whole list of things. I don't know what those things are and I'm not very comfortable with that idea. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm running XP with IE8 and Chrome. I've used both those browsers for a long time now but this problem just started about 3 days go. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
That should have said fpv virus. No wonder no one's answering.

LOL, you are FAMOUS.
Here is a good blog explaining how to do it. He sounds like he really knows what he's doing. The instructions are very similar to how I've removed related stuff in the past.
But........
He has gone and quoted YOUR QUESTION.
So this is really the right answer for you.

It is quite safe to delete things from the Registry: Make a backup first to be on the safe side, but I've never had to resort to using it. Doing everything in Safe Mode is the main trick, as this kind of virus will hide in normal mode.
Don't be tempted to ring the chatline on that blog, they charge fairly big money I think.
