Would AJ McCarron be a solid starter in the NFL?

He's seen as a game-manager type, sort of like Alex Smith...so could he do well in the NFL? Maybe like on a team like the Browns or Titans, where he would have a good D and a few weapons to work with on offense?

Actually, it depends on his work ethic during every offseason. If AJ McCarron works hard and performs very well in practice every day, he will greatly improve his chances of becoming a successful, top notch starting NFL quarterback in the future, just like Alex Smith.

Well, more experts see him as more than just a game manager now. In years past Alabama has won by running over people, now they do it over the top as well. I think it will have a lot to do with who drafts him. In a system like the 49ers, the Patriots, and others who call plays to protect their QB he will do well. When Alabama got the new OC last year AJ's stats took off.
