what bugs look like this ?
i was at my grandparents house this weekend (merced, CALIFORNIA). and at night time when i woke up i saw a good size orange bug, 1inch length , half inch thickness. It had a big head, possibly similar to the head of an ant, but it matched its orange body, BRIGHT ORANGE. i tried to cover it with the clothes basket on the floor, when i lifted it up, the bug side stepped away, YES, it didnt move forward or backward, it side stepped. I looked for the bug the next morning but couldnt fine anything. does anyone have any idea what this could be ?

It could have been a Jerusalem cricket or a cockroach but without a bit more description it is hard to say for sure. Check the links to see if any of these is a match. Hope that helps.

if it has eight legs probably a spider
insects have six legs and three body parts with legs attached to the thorax not the abdomen; most have wings
