It's been two years since i've had a crash on this guy and i can't bring myself to talk to him?

It's really loong but please read im so desperate on what to do right now. (i'm really timid making it hard for me to get to know new people, i have like no friends that are guys, and i dont want anyone to get to know me cuz then they'll see how much of a loner i kinda am). So he's in the year above me in grade 12, i've noticed him when i began high school in grade 9 and he was in grade 10. (btw he's like a total pothead, but not like those so layed back guys. he seems he has a really goofy humor though. for a while we've smiled at eachother and like at the end of my first year in highschool he finally messaged me on facebook saying he likes the color of my bright red hair, and then the next night of my piercings. anyways we talked for a little while then stopped for the summer, at the end of the next year i messaged him when i was on a 3 month trip in quebec, and we talked on fb for a long time then stopped after 3 months. he wanted to talk to me in person and when we finally did, it only last not even a minute, before i ran out of words to say and he said 'have a good day' it was sooo bad.that was at the end of grade 10. we never talked again, but now im in grade 11 he saw me in the art room and then he decided to move into art, then sat across from me but i talked to my friend.today i saw him in the only cafe in town by the school (we're both coffee lovers haha) and he saw me come in, then came and sat down a table away from me, facing me. i could tell he look really shy and and looked kinda nervous. he plugged his phone in, but didnt go on it, and kept glancing at me i think, but i was like a meter away from him and i wasnt exactly looking at him, and as soon as i got my coffee, i left cuz i had to work. i dont know whether to smile at him anymore because i've seen people get into relationships within 2 weeks. is it time i give up on him? its just so awkward seeing him everyday and not saying anything or even smiling at him. i mean what if he has a gf i dont know about? he doesnt even live on the island, he just goes to highschool here. just crushing on a guy for two years isnt worth it is it? he's graduating this year anyways...
