How do I analyze the results from an F-test?

In a population.

After calculating, the null hypothesis was rejected. Meaning that there is unequal variance between the two samples, right? What else can I say? Does this mean that the samples are independent?

You're right that the sample variances are not equal. The F-test says nothing else about the data. Independence is a requirement of the F-test and must be determined before it is applied.
