Should I get a Scientific Angler or Okuma fly fishing combo for my dad?

They are freshwater combos with 5/6 weight components. The Scientific Angler Trout package is $60 and the Okuma Cascade package is $66 and some change. He's currently looking at a $30 combo from Walmart, but I would like to get him something a step up from those. He's a beginner and would only use it infrequently. He wants to pack it on the back of his ATV to some small streams he recently discovered. Anything more expensive would be overkill. Feel free to recommend other combos in or below the $60 price range, but I would really like to know if anybody has any experience with either of these two combos.

Scientific angler would be the best choice.

Walmart does have fly fishing combos made by Cortland and they do put their expensive combos on sale sometimes, but since it is close to black Friday and getting closer to Christmas some of the more expensive Cortland combos could be on sale already.

Another vote for Sci Angler. TU's to Ghost.

FYI: The problem with those types of combo's (in general) is the rod (and line) . Honestly, you'd be better off ordering a Cabelas combo and getting some decent WF line. Why?????

Cabelas combo's have much better rods than any other cheapy fly-rod pkg.

And having a decent rod is the most important prt of fly-fishing. (Having a crappie rod can seriously affect your casting distance, comfort, and general fun.)

Check this out for rod/reel pkg on sale from $119 to $69 at Cabelas- http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Fly-Fishing...

    Hope this helps?
