Integrated graphics and graphics card?

I have an AMD Athlon II with integrated graphics and I can't even play minecraft with it. If I got a decent graphics card, would I have to replace the processor also? Also, would it be easy to set up the graphics card with the integrated graphics if I didn't have to replace the processor?

Check what type of graphics cards will fit your motherboard (most likely PCIe)

After fitting the card, in the BIOS there is likley a setting you have to chnage (something like 'use on-board graphics' -> set 'disable')

As others have pointed out, graphics cards can be very power hungry .. you may have to upgrade your PSU ..

No, the worst thing that could happen is the integrated graphics would be disabled. Which would make it rely solely on the dedicated GPU (graphics card). You can find a cheap GPU on www.newegg.com .

Just make sure you do research if the graphics card fits into your PC, you may also need to upgrade your power supply if the one you are using is not fit for the job. Use this link to determine wattage needed.

just make you know your general specs to use this link.

IF you get a higher class GPU, you will need to upgrade your CPU (now or later) because it may bottleneck your performance, and wouldn't let your PC run at it's full potential.

If you have a laptop, you may need to get a special GPU.

If you have a desktop, many GPUs have the demensions on how big they are in inches, cenimeters, or milimeters. When you get the demensions for the GPU you want, write them down, turn your computer off, and measure right ontop of the PCI express x16 slot.

You can learn about PCI express x16 slots by looking at the wiki, and looking up your computer model, and bringing up a picture of your motherboard and expansions slots.
