Has anyone installed windows 7 on an IDE HDD?
Hey! I have a intel d845gvsr mobo with 1gb ram and 80gb seagate ide hdd. I tried installing windows 7 from cd without booting. Windows 7 setup sees my ide hdd but asks me for drivers to make any modification to the disk. But it sees drive letters, used space and free space. So, has anyone installed windows 7 on ide hard disk? What errors did you get and how did you get over those errors? And finally, can i install w7 on my drive? Or where will i get ide drivers for w7 installation? Plz help..

you can install win 7 in your ide hdd. it doesnt matter, what matters is the speed you get. try 2gb of ram over 1gb. it will help . and also when you installing win 7. try formating and install(by booting your win 7 disk) over upgradng current system. :) cheerrzz.....

Your question is way too vague. Please re-post (using Additional Details) and tell us where you got the Windows 7 DVD, and tell us exactly what it says on the DVD Label.
Is it a Windows 7 Recovery DVD from a PC manufacturer, like Dell, for example?
Or is it an OEM or full Windows 7 DVD that also includes a legal Activation Code?
OR, did you just download the ISO file from a website that you don't want to reveal? And, it didn't come with a legal Activation Code.
None of the above can be installed without cold-booting, only a W 7 UPGRADE DVD will install from within Windows, without rebooting first. And, you don't have a legal W 7 Upgrade DVD and the legal Activation Code, or you wouldn't be asking for help.
