Why is my thumb numb?

I had a sore wrist from exercise and wore a brace to bed just in case just to make sure I didn't make it worse by sleeping on it funny. Now my wrist does not feel sore but my thumb has been numb since I got up. It does not hurt like when I sleep on it funny just has a funny sensation. It has been this way at least 5 hours. Only the top portion of my thumb too it is just weird.

Just in case you are wondering I am a very healthy individual at a very healthy weight. I over did and advanced split grip move in pole dance fitness class and the is how I got a sore wrist. I did eat like a lot of salty things if that makes a difference the last two days as well. I probably have not had enough water either since I have been on the go quite a bit but I have had at least 4-6 cups a day but not my usual 8-12.

I have no other symptoms.
