how much thermal energy does it take to melt a 50g piece of ice originally at 0 degress C and bring it to a temperature of 37 degrees C?

    50g ice @ 0deg C ---> 50g water @ 0deg C [= latent heat of fusion of ice * 50 = 80Cal/g/deg C X 50g = 4000Cal]

    ---> 50g water @ 37deg C = 37 X 50 = 1850 Cal

    Total heat = 5850 Cal
