1.) the price of gasoline at a particular station is 1.5 euros per liter. An american student can use 33 euros to buy gasoline. Knowing that 4 quarts make a gallon and that 1 liter is close to 1 quarter, she quickly reasons that she can buy how many gallons of gasoline?

  • physics thermal energy practice help!!?

A 5kg block of ice at 0 degrees celcius is added to an insulated container partially filled with 10kg of water at 15 degrees celcius. Find the final temperature neglecting the heat capacity of the container.

first i computed the amount of energy necessary to completely melt the ice: Qmelt= miceLf= (5kg)(3.33x10^5 J/kg)= 1.67 x10^6 J

second i calulated the max energy that can be lost by the initial mass of liquid water without freezing it: Qwater= mwater x c x delta T= (10kg)(4190J/kg C)(0-15C)= -6.29x10^5J

it says the final answer is 0 degrees celcius....How do I get that?????

  • physics is this correct?

Question: If you were given the density of a metal cylinder as 7900 kg/m^3 and its mass is 40g. Student measured its height as 5 cm. Calculate the radius of the metal cylinder in meters.

    ok I did v=m/d= (.04kg)/(7900kg/m^3)= 5,06x10^-6

    and then i did v=piR^2h

    r^2= 5.06x10^-6/ pi(.05m)= 8.05x10^-8= 2.84x10^-4

    is this correct???

ok the question is a spaceship with a mass of 5.00x10^4 kg is traveling at 6.00x10^3 m/s relative to a space station. What mass will the ship have after it fires its engines in order to reach a relative speed of 8.00x10^3 m/s, traveling the same direction? Assume an exhaust velocity of 4.50x10^3 m/s

    the equation is vf= vi+ veln(mi/mf)

    when i rearranged it i got mf= (vf-vi)/ (velnmi)
