What diameter of tire will really fit?
The manual will not even say.
The only thing is
"have found the Rock Shox XC 28 TK and the Rock Shox XC 30 TK. ... the only thin is that if i run a tire bigger than 2.35 up front it wont fit"
So I guess it would fit.

The diameter of the tire is based on the rim size. You either have a 26", 27.5" (unlikely) or 29" rim. You want a tire to math that diameter. One you get the right size diameter, you can get any width time from around 2" to 2.2", depending on preference and riding conditions.

You are confusing tire diameter with tire width. Most MTBs rim can take up to a 2.3 both in rim width and clearance. Any more than that, you actually have to try it. Sometimes the V brakes won't clear, like you have to deflate the tire to get the wheel on. Not a problem with disk brakes. Often it is just how the frame is designed, the width of the wheel stays.

The manual cannot account for variations from nominal tire size. The only way to really tell is to mount the tire on your wheel and install the wheel on the bike. In addition rim width can affect the way a tire fits on the bike. Wider rims will give a different tire profile than narrower rims
