Are these dead give aways?

Last week my coworker took two things off my receipt at work and upgraded my food to the larger size then said it was a token of his appreciation...now this week he pulls me to the side and asks if I want a raise and said he'd talk to my boss to get me one! I didn't ask for it, he just randomly offered... Is there more behind these two actions than just being a friendly coworker? He's one of the assistant managers now so he has rule of who works til 8:30 and who works til 10:00 on weekend nights and ALWAYS scouts me out to ask if I'm working late with him. I'm not crazy to think there's meaning behind these actions, right?
